Remote Learning For New York Schools amidst covid-19 omicron surge

The omicron variant "is really hitting kids hard, This is the highest number of kids infected we've seen."
Nationally, pediatric COVID-19 cases are more than 20% of all COVID-19 cases. (Abcnews).
The new Mayor of New York City Eric Adams recently said that "a school building is the safest place for kids right now". I completely disagree with that statement because the kids are taking greater risk of getting infected with covid-19 than receiving classes at home through virtual learning.
This petition is looking to make the Mayor Eric Adams understand the benefits of remote learning for our kids amidst the covid-19 omicron variant surges, specially the younger ones like kindergarteners and First graders.
A surge of COVID-19 cases in New Jersey means that more school districts in the state are choosing to have kids stay at home.
The Mount Laurel School District chose to switch back to remote learning after an increase in absences. Schools in the town were closed on Wednesday so that teachers and staff had enough time to prepare for virtual learning. The decision came as students returned to the classroom on Tuesday following winter break (News12).
The goal with this petition is to appeal to the Mayor so he can reconsider to switch the New York schools to remote learning for a few weeks.
