Robin Newbrey started this petition to Mayor of Johnstown and

2020 is different isn't it? When they said Covid would change our lives forever I don’t think any of us imagined the awareness of Racism and violence in our own neighborhoods. Are we anti-racist or are we complicit? Join me in showing support for Black Lives Matter murals on our streets. Mention if you'd like to volunteer - I'll help the town gather information and volunteer myself. Mention in the comment section if you would be willing to help paint, also, please.

Feel FREE to click Black Lives Matter Murals to see examples and in the same comment box, you can briefly mention what you like most, as you sign.

The horrific outcomes of this viral racism coupled with our quarentine and other 2020 issues are too many to list, but they deserve to have their names mentioned, dont they? #ElijahMcCain in Aurora, had no reason to die or be killed, #GeorgeFloyd #IcantBreathe #8minutes46seconds and #BreonnaTaylor #6bullets drug from her home no warrant, too many to list here. #AhmaudArbery, jogging, RIP.  These murders are not an anomolie. Men hanging in trees on both US coasts, women found on riverbanks and in shallow graves, domestic violence and suicide still increasing despite the already huge jumps in recent years - not an area where 'how high can you go?' - its very very bad for all of us. Nooses being put in Nascar officials garage's - by thugs, which seem to have a new felt-empowerment. The negative affects from violence and racism go well beyond even these horrific events. Ask the vets if their PTSD disappears or becomes a lifelong journey. I'm urging you to join me in asking our Town to make a visible gesture or several to make our residents feel safe, and to outwardly make an act of Anti-Racism - thank you black lives movement for growing our vocabularly and trying to get the message out for years in peaceful methods such as with Colin Kaepernick taking a knee.

Next to us, in Loveland one of our presidents' more zealous (forgive me if this seems partisan, the "Join me in fighting anti-fa" advertisement was sitting on top of the article about this horrific act right next door, as I read it and I cannot pretend it isn't one of his perhaps more zealous) followers mimicked the George Floyd murder on two men - making them beg for their life while he wielded a gun and threatened to kill them.

How do our children and neighbors feel on our streets? How do people of color, those that live with us and others that maybe just driving through or visiting Veterans Brothers' or Ace Hardware for example, or Scheels (if you can get there with all the really overlapping and novel construction) or working on our roads feel when they go to get lunch or drive home? Safe enough to jog? Walk to the store and expect to be able to walk back without murder by thug or police? Can we reinforce the message?

Sign the petition and show your support to the Mayor and Town for Murals. If you want to help paint or have a suggestion for where you would really like to see a mural or even where you don't please write it in the comments section. Residents of Johnstown, including River Thompson Ranch are especially encouraged to sign and comment. If you have some special skill (experience with street or other larger murals a plus!) or materials to donate (giant Stencils?) Thank you for your time reading and signing this. Visible and ongoing antiracism is the least we can do to get the blood off our hands. there's more information out there but a link on the author of the concept (I think, I haven't finished the book yet:) is here: https://www.aol.com/ibram-x-kendi-stephen-colbert-114146698.html
