Pass The Right to Rest Act (HB 17-1314) in Colorado Springs
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
There are roughly 1,500 homeless people in Colorado Springs and only a fraction of them have a shelter to go at night. The others, live in fear each night as the cops begin to find and ticket those who couldn’t find a shelter to stay. 32% of the homeless populations are unsheltered due to lack of space and are being ticketed for camping in the parks. Our city needs to stop spending their time and resources on the criminalization of the homeless. Signing this would be one step towards ending the enforcement of the no-camping law and allowing homeless to 'rest' without being ticketed in our city. (the state of Colorado in only 6 cities spent $5 million dollars in the past 5 years to enforce the ticketing of the homeless, Colorado Springs being one of them)
