Ban plastic and the throwing of plastic in our Sea !

0 have signed. Let’s get to 10,000!

About 8 million metric tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually. Of those, 236,000 tons are micro plastic. Every minute, one garbage truck of plastic is dumped into our oceans. This amount of plastic in the ocean is set to increase tenfold by 2020. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are fish(by weight). We are not even done, the majority of plastic waste does not get reused or recycled and experts believe that 50% of plastic is single use, meaning it is used once before being discarded. Single use plastic includes water bottles, plastic packaging, grocery bags etc.The average time for a plastic bottle to completely degrade (decay, degenerate) is at least 450 years and some bottles take 1000 years. Let this small introduction sink in.

The impact of plastic pollution is not only effecting the oceans and the air we breathe but it affects human beings, nature and the living creatures (animals) surrounding nature and the aquatic life (fish). Plastic can take thousands of years to biodegrade. It takes up valuable space in landfill sites and is polluting the natural environment which is crucial to all living things,as well as  having a significant impact on our oceans. Many fish humans consume, have at one time or another, ingested plastic micro fibers. Lebanese people do sure love their sushi, the choice is yours. The negative impact is growing dramatically where we've reached a point of swimming in the sea next to a bunch of trash full of plastic surrounded by algae( this week at sporting beach). Not to forget the "people" at Manara that throw their plastic in the ocean on a daily basis while swimming or fishing. This has to end. The list of the negative impact that plastic does to the planet could go on but it's time to take some action and focus on the positive of restoring the planet.

Reducing plastic waste is very crucial for the environment, and to human beings as well. Reducing plastic could have positive financial benefits, health benefits, improving the quality of products being produced, and improve quality of life to fututre generations (extremely important).

We are willing to work with as many people as possible, especially the government in order to find solutions.

Let us put it this way: "the planet is our mother and we need to start taking care of it".
