Mickey McCarter started this petition to Mayor of DC Muriel Bowser

Bad actors invaded the District of Columbia on Jan. 6, 2021, and desecrated the Capitol Building in acts of domestic terrorism. On social media, their cohorts are vowing to return on dates between Jan. 17-20.

As the Los Angeles Times reports: "Hours after the free-for-all, those on the far right took to social media, urging the like-minded to bring the fight to state capitols nationwide and arm themselves for another assault on Washington on Jan. 19, the day before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration." In suspending Donald Trump's Twitter account, Twitter said in an official statement, "Plans for future armed protests have already begun proliferating on and off-Twitter, including a proposed secondary attack on the US Capitol and state capitol buildings on January 17, 2021." Many personal associates have described the shock of seeing The Capitol occupied akin to the shock of seeing the devastation of 9/11. On Sept. 11, 2001, the District of Columbia closed its borders to anyone who was not a resident to prevent the entry or egress of terrorists.

Mayor Muriel Bowser can work with the appropriate authorities to close D.C. borders again on Jan. 17-20 to prevent more acts of domestic terrorism.

President-elect Joe Biden already is urging bystanders to stay away from Inauguration Day events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will doubly ensure everyone's safety.
