Every day, the MTA services a large majority of the metropolitan NYC area. While there are 245 miles of track that cover routes, it is not nearly enough to cover the customer base that relies on the subway system daily. In some areas of the city, the effect of no transit is quite apparent, with low business growth, low cultural and entertainment options, stagnant property values, and heavy reliance on cars and ride share services. Bus service in these areas is spotty at best, with long, arduous rides being the sad, frustrating, norm.

The communities in mid-Queens serviced by the M train- Middle Village, Maspeth, and Ridgewood- are some of the many areas that many call a 'transit desert'. On the weekends and late nights, this desert becomes expansive. Until the dawn of the L Project, wherein trains that connected with the L train were provided boosted service features such as more frequent trains, little to no weekend work or changes, and line extensions, the residents of these communities suffered at the hands of the MTA. On the weekends, M trains into Manhattan terminated at Delancey Street. Late nites, M trains only ran between Myrtle-Broadway and Middle Village, every 20 minutes. And many weeknights, M train service terminated by 8.30 PM from Manhattan into BOTH sections of Queens that it ran to. Frankly, service like this is unacceptable.

Since the start of the L Project, riders of the M train have been fortunate enough to have consistent late night and weekend service, without having to make unnecessary or overly long transfers. Previously, a trip from the LES to the Fresh Pond Road M stop, with a missed transfer, could easily take an hour late night. Now, it takes 30 minutes. Riders demand better service on this line post L Project completion. This encapsulates the following:

- M trains that run with time consistency

-M trains that run late night as they do currently, without being run on a 20 minute shuttle between Myrtle Broadway and Middle Village

-M trains that run past Delancey Street on the weekends

-M trains that do not end service early on weeknights

We will not take excuses for answers, and we will not allow the service that we pay for to be mediocre.
