It is our rights to have them if these come down then so should statues evolving others come down. This is our history America's history. We are suppose to believe in equality so why are our statues coming down in the south yet others are being kept where is the equality in this. Even history books are more politically correct. As not to offend blacks. Yet we are constantly being force to hear and respect black heritige.if we are adding it to history books that's fine but leave in the other things too. I ask my child who was Jim Bowie they didn't know Davy Crockett didn't know. Daniel Boone. No idea. Lewis and Clark. Nothing, yet they could tell me everything about Malcolm X ,Harriet Tubman, martin Luther King Jr.these are Native American children that learn very little in history about their people's struggles from the white me.All I'm saying is equality should be exactly that.

Mitch, you and our city council does not own this city, or its monuments.
We the people do. You were elected to serve all of the citizens, not just you and your selfish political B.S. You just put your legacy in the toilet.

What would we do without this and other monuments? It would be so sad to lose any of them.

history and art sometimes cross attitudes but when we look at the real story, we can see that not all slave owners were mean, and most slaves when freed stayed with the families they were working for; we need to realize too that the slaves were originally sold by wealthy black African men....

Removing monuments is akin to Isis destroying artifacts in Syria, etc.
