Stop the reckless ATV vehicles from needlessly endangering our neighborhoods and city streets.

In the past five years, New Orleans has seen an increase in the reckless use of ATV vehicles on our streets. It is not at all uncommon for groups of ATVs to speed through residential neighorhoods, often driving at two or three times the speed limit, against traffic, and popping wheelies. The drivers are all ages and often without helmets. And the NOPD says they are forbidden from addressing the situation.
Yet this summer we have seen several horrific, and entirely preventable, accidents. The most recent incident occurred this past Sunday and left a mother of two in a coma; you can read the story here: http://www.wwltv.com/news/Treme-mother-in-coma-after-ATV-hit-and-run-269293411.html
We urge the city to take responsiblity for their citizens and find a way to address this deadly public safety issue.
