It broke my heart to see my niece crying her eyes out due to the fact that she received news that her graduation ceremony would be held virtually. I understand times are hard but we also have to understand that this situation has already stolen so much from our 2020 graduates. They didn't have a prom. They didn't get to spend their last couple of months together with their friends. They got hit with a bag of bricks from all sides and now this. This might be the last time they see each other before starting different chapters in their lives. I know we are not the only family who feels this way. I feel like the least they can do for these kids is give them the proper ceremony they have worked very hard for and deserve. I'm asking the City of Perris/Perris Union High School District, to please reconsider their decision. These kids have worked very hard. Many of them are first in their family to receive this accomplishment. No one truly knows the battle they had to fight to get to this point and a virtual ceremony just isn't cutting it. Think back to those years and think about how you would feel if they did this to you. Families, students, and friends have been looking forward to this specific ceremony for years. Please don't do this to our graduates. I believe that the City of Perris/Perris Union High School District could do more for these kids. I know there is a solution to every problem sometimes people just chose what is easiest. I am confident that the students and parents will do their part to help this dream come true.
