Dear Mr. Mayor, Chancellor Walcott, bus companies, and union,
Enough already. Please end the New York City bus strike.
The current standoff is wasting the time and affecting the education of thousands of families. Hundreds of thousands of hours of productivity of parents are being lost EVERY day, the roads are clogged, and emissions are increased due to the bus strike. Children are missing school and working parents are risking their jobs to get them to class and back. Worst of all, our most vulnerable students and their already overburdened families are suffering.
Long-planned field trips are being cancelled, causing local businesses and attractions to lose revenue. Volunteering is down at schools because parents must waste extra hours a week shuttling kids to school.
We support our experienced bus drivers and matrons, and appreciate their work getting our kids to school every day through roads that are constantly changing due to traffic, construction, and weather. We are confident that you will be able to find a solution that is more cost-effective without endangering their jobs.
You know this has to come to an end sooner or later. Make it sooner.
