Create a developer tax for Nashville, to protect our community from predatory practices.

Nashville has become a profit-center for developers who see our city as a commodity to be exploited for pure profit, rather than a place where people raise families, start businesses, and grow old.
The goal of this petition is to compel Mayor Megan Barry and the Metro Nashville City Council to draft and pass a comprehensive plan aimed at curtailing predatory developers, and practices that are detrimental to current residents, families, and businesses.
We want to create an environment where developers are courteous of existing residents and businesses, while also contributing towards our community directly with their profits. Ultimately, that means East Nashville needs to begin taxing the developers who are deriving a great profit from our community.
There is no sure-fire way to make real estate developers behave, and treat people with respect -- but we can compel them to pay taxes that go towards making the community better. Nashville needs a developer tax, plain a simple. Money from those taxes should go towards legal defenses for residences who are being bullied by developers, parks, green space, education, bike paths, and other shared community improvements.
