Please Bring Jazzland Back! The City of New Orleans needs more family entertainment venues and attractions. The Jazzland Theme Park proposal, submitted by The Paidia Company, offers the most realistic option for redeveloping the former Six Flags site as it would re-use most of the existing infrastructure.
Families of New Orleans would like to be able to bring their children to the park again. The City is trying to attract more tourist by showing them that there is more to the City than Bourbon Street. Jazzland is a perfect fit to add to that campaign and to attract more families to visit.
This proposal for Jazzland includes locally owned businesses and is working with area youth organizations to offer internship programs and art & music education programs at the park. As the theme park would be open year-round, it would generate at least 600 jobs, with an additional 1000 seasonal workers. Jazzland could be open again in 2014, with the new water park opening in 2015. The planned movie studio back lot would honor current filming agreements between the IDB and Fox and Universal, has its first tenant lined up and ready to move in immediately, and has two TV shows interested in filming onsite.
Jazzland needs to come back. It CAN come back. Please let The Paidia Company move forward with their plans so that we can have a new family entertainment venue.
