Wendy Gilbert started this petition to Mayor of Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell and

Dance studios solely rely on the revenue collected for their group classes.  Meaning if we cannot hold these classes we will not survive the periodic closures set forth by the city and state in an effort to reduce the spread of this virus.  The arts are already underfunded in our community.  Are dance studios a necessary casualty in the fight against Covid-19 even though we are taking every precaution required of businesses that are allowed to stay open (ie churches, water parks, salons, restaurants, retail, gyms).  Those requirements include; required mask wearing, social distancing 6’, hand hygiene, limiting capacity, ample signage to enforce guidelines, frequent cleanings, ventilated spaces, entry temperature screenings and surveys, advanced registration, and attendance taking to assist in contact tracing.  One dance studio on Oahu has already been forced to close permanently, other studios are unable to offer any classes at this time, and most are on the brink of financial collapse due to Covid 19 mandates.  Please help us keep dance alive in the state of Hawaii by signing this petition and leaving a personal testimony.
