The health of the public should be the priority right now. Nothing else.

My daughter works as cardiac nurse in Arizona. Her patient was asymptomatic at admitting. A day later the patient had been tested positive for COVID-19. Despite all the precautions and safety measures taken, several of the nurses who had come in contact with the patient, including my daughter, had tested positive for COVID-19. The patient was the ONLY patient to have tested positive during their recovery time on the floor. Food servers and bartenders and everyone who provide any service to the public are risking their health and safety because patrons unknowingly pass the virus onto others because they are asymptomatic. People are contagious when they are asymptomatic and this is a HIGHLY contagious disease. We need to take action now. Not in 4 hours not in 24 hours. This is a deadly disease that left my 24 year old daughter bedridden, and struggling to breathe, as this virus unleashed its wrath on her lungs. She is getting stronger each day but it could have taken my daughter away from me. No one should have to be unnecessarily exposed to this disease. Please protect our children. Close the bars for now.

I’m on the front line of exposure, as a bartender.
I can tell you firsthand that the guidelines set are being loosely interpreted. I have 20 years experience in the industry and I don’t see how most the safety protocols can be effective. Mask requirements are being followed by employees for the most part but half our customers don’t believe they should be forced to wear them. If they don’t have one we give them one that is never worn. Six feet apart is impossible in any restaurant setting. Employees to customer & coworker to coworker happen hundreds of times in a shift. Pussyfooting around the severity of the virus and in the precautions taken has gotten us where we are.
I’m now under the impression that human lives are the collateral damage and our government has signed off on an acceptable level to achieve herd immunity.

I’m a server in Pacific Beach and the danger to the service industry employees is far too great and the city and owners are doing nothing!
