CUES make sense - to save lives, to reduce HIV and HepC, lessens the burden on police and EMTs, compassionate engagement and services will move some to treatment, removes some of the burden from the neighborhood

It is important to minimize harm among drug users. We need to keep HIV and HCV infection numbers and costs to a minimum. People can not get clean and become productive members of society if they are deceased. It is up to us to help them, to keep them alive until they are able to. Harm reduction works.

Drug addiction is an illness, not a crime. These people need medical attention, not jail time. They deserve a safe place to do their thing with the resources to get help if they want it. Everyone else deserves to have clean streets so we can feel safe in the city of brotherly love.

It's a proven fact that supervised injection sites save lives. Mayor Kenney, this is another chance to help. Think about all those who have died from this epidemic often near those horrific train tracks-alone.....they were sons, daughters, sisters, brothers and mothers and fathers who got caught up often with LEGAL pain pills.

This is a needed commonsense step to addressing one of the biggest health crises in this city. It is an opportunity to prevent death, pull people out of addiction, and save city resources, while keeping neighborhoods safe.

There is a lot of great evidence here that this type of site will be effective. We can't take a strictly punative approach it will not work.
