Why this petition matters

Started by Robert Mabry

Nathan Bedford Forrest was the head of the Ku Klux Klan and the KKKs only Grand Wizard.  There are three streets in Atlanta that intersect each other in a predominantly African American neighborhood called Rebel Acres.  Those streets are Natham Drive, Redford Drive and Rebel Forest Drive.  Taken together, they spell out Natham Redford Forrest, eerily similar to Nathan Bedford Forrest. That seems hardly a coincidence when you take into account the Rebel in Rebel Forest Dr or neighboring Stonewall Drive.

In addition to being the head of the KKK, Forrest:

-was a confederate general that ordered his troops to kill over 300 African American Union soldiers who had already surrendered.

-was responsible for voter intimidation where African Americans were killed or whipped

-was a slave owner and slave trader

The city too busy to hate has no business honoring the head of the KKK, especially in a predominantly African American neighborhood. We request that the City of Atlanta change the names of these streets.
