Skateboarding has become a popular sport in the past 2 decades, it has evolved a great deal; from flat ground, Pool (Transition) skating, to stair sets, and Hand rails. Skateboarding is more than an “extreme” sport, it’s an art. It teaches kids that nothing comes easy; everyone falls, but not everyone gets back up and trys again. Sure skaters get a bad rep, but it’s the most positive culture in the world, it doesn’t matter what race, color, or what gender you are; if you’re good, you’re good. If not, You’ll learn. I love 4th ward it’s a great Transition skate park, but the layout makes it almost impossible for Street skateboarders to get around, and that’s why I’m proposing a street plaza in Piedmont or maybe Centennial. It’s a great opportunity to improve the community, studies show that putting a skate park in a troubled intercity area will have positive affects; kids are less likely to be involved in gang activity, and drug usage. Atlanta is a very complex City, there are troubled neighborhoods speckled everywhere, a lot of the time there are gentrified areas behind or in front of these neighborhoods, so this park would definitely help. In conclusion a Skate plaza would be a great addition to our City, and would have a positive impact on our communities. Please support us in making this dream a reality.
Your’s truly, Atlanta skaters
