Urge Atlanta's Mayor Kasim Reed to make the Rainbow Crosswalks permanent!

This petition had 4,475 supporters

Supporters of the Atlanta Rainbows Crosswalks, please join us as we urge Atlanta's Mayor Kasim Reed to allow the Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks to become a permanent installation in Midtown, Atlanta. These will be a symbol of acceptance, unity, tolerance, and equality, representing the diversity of the LGBT community and its allies.

The intersection of 10th St. and Piedmont Ave. has been the epicenter of the LGBT community in Atlanta for decades. The crosswalks will serve as a tribute to thousands of people who have and continue to fight for LGBT rights in our city and worldwide. Atlanta has one of the highest LGBT populations in the nation per capita at 12.8%, behind Seattle and San Francisco, and it is time to recognize the contributions made by the LGBT community to this city. The Rainbow Crosswalks will be a visual reminder of these contributions and our community.

We seek to have Atlanta join the cities of West Hollywood CA, San Francisco CA, Seattle WA, Philadelphia PA, Miami FL, Key West FL, Sacramento CA, Austin TX, Northampton, MA. This permanent installation will put us on the map nationally as a progressive city that embraces and supports equality for all. The LGBT community is a permanent fixture in this city, and the Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks should be too!

Please sign and share this petition to make the Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks a permanent installation! We appreciate your support!
