There have been multiple school age kids injured and even killed on Bensalem Blvd in recient years.  These incidents involved kids simply trying to get the bus to school.  Bensalem blvd is a major bus route with many bus stops for our High School, Middle School and Grade School children.  Sections along this route do not have proper lighting, leaving some of our children waiting for or walking to their buses in the dark.  We need street lights at every school bus stop on both sides of the road because proper lighting will keep more of our kids safe.  Bensalem Blvd does not have sidewalks along a major portion of the road which includes many of the schools bus stops.  Coincidentally some of the poorly lit areas are the same areas without sidewalks making these areas even more dangerous.  Even though the speed limit is 40mph on this road filled with our school children, people are still speeding and passing busses with no regard for the safety of our youth.  There is not enough police presence along Bensalem Blvd during school bus pickup and drop off times.  In addition, to increased police presence, there is not enough traffic safety cameras to catch and stop irresponsible drivers. The major problem is that after multiple incidents, serious injuries and even multi deaths nothing has been done to make Bensalem Blvd safer for our kids.  We need better lighting, more police surveillance on motorist and reduced speeds. A single incident is a tragedy, multiple incidents without any changes regarding the safety of our children is a crime.
