Petition update

Mayor Tory: people are mad and they have spoken.

Apr 12, 2017 — 15:50 pm: sent to Mayor's policy advisor.
"Attached please find the latest signatures and comments on my petition asking Mayor Tory to open the armouries for emergency shelter.
I realize he continues to decline to act on this particular life-saving measure but he should know how passionately people care about homelessness and lack of adequate shelter.

At yesterday’s homeless memorial we added seven names.

In the words of one signatory "Mr, Tory should make his legacy an end to homelessness instead of a park that would cost billions, if only to prove that he is not an elitist mayor that sees the poor, old, and sick as not belonging in his concept of a city!"

Today there are 12, 021 signatories and 87 pages of comments. I ask you to share them with Mayor Tory and key staff.

It is most unfortunate the Mayor did not act on this issue. It could have helped leverage the property for affordable housing in the future.
