Thousands of citizens lack access to water and basic hygiene. There is no excuse for this any time, never mind in a pandemic.

We have been forced to become soldiers. To fight against the inequality our leaders have fosted upon us. To fight for dignity and the right to safe affordable housing for all. Enough of the slumlords who have grown fat at the expense of the homeless. Enough of the landlords and their extortionary rents while the homeless die of sars2covid19 in shelters that are ill fit to follow the protocols the health Minister has set down. It is time for change, time for new leaders with new visions to step forward. The status quo is a failure. It is sad that it took a pandemic to show us this.

We are a very rich city with much wealth, and should never be in the situation of not having rooms or food for the homeless in our city. I have seen what has happened in Vancouver --and Toronto should do everything it can to prevent a similar outcome in this city.

This is disgusting hateful anti-Canadian behavior. Especially from Kristen. Tired of these archaic responses to human suffering.

My son died on November 30th while "living" at Seaton House - the emergency should have been declared 6 months ago!

The lives of the poor are at risk and those who represent our collective will need to act on our behalf to alleviate the housing crisis and the national disgrace of poverty.

The current pandemic and our harsh winters as well as dangerous heat waves in the summers put Toronto’s homeless at further risk in already high-risk circumstances. We need to recognize the urgency of homelessness in the GTA so that we can move forward and fund and expand shelters and services for some of our city’s most vulnerable individuals.
