Jennifer Farmer started this petition to John Tory (Mayor, City of Toronto) and

The City of Toronto has proposed new affordable housing at the corner of Cedarvale and Trenton Avenues. This is 64 permanent affordable studio apartments with on-site services for tenants who are leaving the City’s homeless shelters.

More information about the modular project is available here and here.

Due to some local opposition East York is being seen as hostile to the new housing, but many East Yorkers care about vulnerable and marginalized people and we are sick of the bickering and want to support this new housing. Here’s why:

  • We need new affordable housing to create a more inclusive and healthy neighbourhood
  • Modular housing is a quick and affordable way to get people off the streets THIS YEAR!
  • This apartment building will move people out of encampments, the City's shelter system and temporary shelter hotels
  • This housing comes with on-site services to help tenants transition to independent living

Please sign and share this petition and let people know that East York cares!

Additionally, we encourage you to send messages of support to Councillor Bradford at councillor_bradford@toronto.ca
