Veto Ordinances and Resolutions on Item 16 (September 18th 2012)

The city of El Paso will risk tax payers dollars if they sign a contract with Mountain Star Sports Group, LLC – El Paso Baseball Club Series and Mountain Star Sports Group, LLC in order to build a stadium in down town El Paso. This project will cost millions of dollars and will affect tax payers. There is no guarantee and no evidence that building a sports stadium will bring economic development (more about that here http://www.cato.org/pubs/regulation/regv23n2/coates.pdf). Tell Mayor John Cook not to risk tax payers' dollars on a project that is not guaranteed to bring economic growth to El Paso. Tell Mayor John Cook to take a stand for the people over private interests and to veto Ordinances and Resolutions on Item 16 from the City Council meeting on September 18th 2012 (http://www.elpasotexas.gov/muni_clerk/city_council.asp).
