On May 6, 2020, Facebook viewers watched a high speed car chase of police pursuing 21 year old Dreasjon Reed.  The pursuit went from car to foot.  Minutes later he was dead!

Dreasjon joins a list of people who have died at the hands of IMPD. The black community’s request for transparency and accountability have gone unanswered.

Why is justice delayed and denied for our community?

A police officer takes an oath to . . . “hold myself and others accountable for our actions.”

We have NO TRUST that the Indianapolis Police Department will hold their officers accountable for their actions!!

Enough is Enough!

Beyond the Protests DEMANDS

  • A transparent, equitable and timely investigation into citizen complaints and use of excessive or lethal force.
  • No excessive or deadly force used on an unarmed, restrained, handcuffed individual, or a person fleeing police.
  • Forceful tactics will not be utilized on our peaceful protesters, included but not limited to--pepper spray, tear gas, rubber bullets, or police batons.
  • Officers must de-escalate the situations through communication, where possible, to eliminate the need to use force.
  • Officers must be immediately placed on unpaid administrative leave, during the investigation, if lethal force has been employed on an unarmed individual.
  • An officer’s fears and preconceptions can NEVER be justification for exercising deadly force.
  • Mandatory body cams must be on 24/7 by officers while on duty.
  • A diversion of resources from police agencies to the black community.

We are killed by police at more than twice the rate of white Americans, although we account for less than 13 percent of the U.S. population.

Officers are not the only ones who have a RIGHT to return home to their family and friends.

“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”  Martin Luther King, Jr.

WE DEMAND IT!!
