This summer, the Harmer Avenue pedestrian and cycling bridge over the Queensway will close for two years as part of its replacement. This link is an important walking and biking link for children attending Fisher Park Public School, and for people trying to access services and jobs south of the highway.

The City of Ottawa proposed temporary segregated bike lanes on Holland Avenue between Kenilworth Avenue and Byron Avenue as a safe cycling route during construction. Although the city held many open houses outlining the proposed detour, Mayor Watson, under pressure from a small group of residents, unfortunately cancelled this plan. As a result, the city will only paint sharrows for cyclists, and allow cycling on the narrow sidewalks on Holland Avenue, in order to preserve street parking.
