I have sent many emails with respect to the manipulation and misuse of the Municipal Act to purchase this golf course and my emails have been cc to Jay Maclean who is the president of the Stonebridge community association and the main advocator in pursuit of the Harder to purchase the golf course

Know one should be forced to buy a business they do not want, and a golf course is is a business.

The current property tax is already high, I don’t want more taxes.

I think it’s ridiculous that everyone will be forced to pay a monthly “ fee” is what it will feel like .. not everyone is made of money and lives in mansions. There are other people who are still struggling to get by and would love to save their 4,800 dollars minimum in the next ten years..

This is an unfair proposal based on what the original builder let us believe upon purchase of a house in stonebridge.

Most have received a letter which describes the idea that the gold course will keep the value of property up. This does not remotely compare to the amount of taxes residents will be paying over the course of the next several years. In addition to this, you will find this letter is signed by several realtors, surely to assure you that their word about the value of this property is true, but it should also be considered that realtors have a vested interest in property, for from their value, they will benefit, and they do not have to pay the taxes, so while we suffer, they profit. Consider this in your decision.

I’m signing because I feel this is an attempt to have a community pay to ensure house values for those along the golf course remain unaffected. They should pay it themselves.

Buying a golf course is a big mistake. First I am a 17 year homeowner in Stonebridge. The apparent problem is that Monarch and then Mattamy mislead home buyers in Stonebridge. First Monarch did away with the driving range and made millions on building homes on it. Now Mattamy the new owner golf course owner wants to build houses on part or all of the golf course. Ottawa has an abundance of golf courses. The golf course business is a tough business at the best of times and just ask the past owners of the Glen Mar golf course if they had an easy time selling it. Apparently there is an over supply of golf courses in the Ottawa area.

I might be wrong but I thought I lived in a free country where I cannot be forced to buy anything I do not want and even as a long time golfer I do not want to own in part any golf course. I don’t believe no matter the out come of the vote on the levy that the city has the right to force any home owner to buy in part a golf course!

This is a flawed solution to a problem that dos not exist for many Stonebridge home owners. Most don’t want Mattamy to build on the golf course but if that is their right and that is what they want to do so be it!

Just don’t buy a home from Mattamy in the future.

Sorry but I completely disagree with the proposal to buy the golf course. In fact I feel it lacks even the most basic investment criteria!
