Allyssa Canoy started this petition to Mayor Jim Matherly

The residents of Hilton Ave and Crosson Ave in the Memorial Park subdivision are seeking safer road ways. Our current streets are flooded with fast drivers who exceed the 20mph speed limit on a daily basis. Not only are there many families who reside in the area, there is an elementary school (Denali), baseball fields, parks and a wooded area with walking paths leading out into the streets where these fast drivers speed through. The residents are having to yell at fast drivers on a daily basis and the unanimous fear is that a child/families riding their bike(s), or just simply playing will be struck by a speeding vehicle. We have no safe side walks on either street & after many have reached out to city officials our complaints have not be addressed, but simply told in response that ‘this happens in all neighborhoods.’ We want something to be done before it’s too late and before someone gets hurt. We aren’t asking for 24 hour surveillance, but for a speed monitor or some sort of speed hump to be put in place to remind people to slow down and drive the speed limit. We should not have to yell, honk or scream at people as they speed down our streets.
