Dogs should not be hiking in 80+ degree weather! Just had ANOTHER tragic death!

We have had multiple deaths due to people taking dogs hiking in the summer heat. Yesterday I witnessed the death of a beautiful dog on a hiking trail because of the heat, and keep in mind this happened when it was only 84 degrees! This is a 100% avoidable situation. Dogs do not have sweat glands, they cannot cool down like humans. This is why we all need to come together to stop this. We need to not take our dogs hiking when it is 80+ degrees. Some dogs may not even be able to handle 80 degrees. If you are hot/affected by the humidity, you dog is hotter and cannot handle it as well as you can. There are already signs posted at many trail heads warning you about this, but that is clearly not working. We need to personally take initiative to raise awareness of this tragedy that keeps occurring, we need to not only not take our own dogs hiking when it is hot, but if we see others hiking with their dogs warn them and make sure they take the dog back down the trail and cool them down. We cannot sit by and let more deaths of our precious four leg friends occur!!! Please sign and share this petition to raise awareness of this tragedy and to commit to not hiking with your dogs in the warm months and stop others from doing so as well.
