Problem
There are four different rankings of roads that get plowed in Lexington. The first three categories are based on commercial use. The fourth is residential. Looking at the map accompanying this information, it is clear that many neighborhoods do not get de-iced. This puts many people in danger of sliding, wrecking their car, and getting injured. This is incredibly dangerous, and from an economic perspective, makes people either late to work or prevents them from going at all. This is an issue of safety, time, resources, etc. People need to be able to commute. If our cities were designed for walk-ability, this wouldn't be an issue. However, people require the ability to drive to achieve their basic needs.

Solution
A petition may demonstrate that a large number of people feel a need for this system to change. It may also improve safety in Lexington during the winter. More roads should be de-iced.

Personal story
I am a Lexington, Kentucky native. I have witnessed every winter how much of a struggle it becomes to drive around most places. I've been in cars that can't make it out of a neighborhood because of a small hill. I've witnessed horrible accidents.
