Allow Darrell Durrant to continue selling his pumpkins

Darrell "Bud" Durrant has been selling pumpkins and other local foods to the Orem, Utah community for 20 years. This year, however, the city threatened to shut him down because his business violates city zoning laws.

While the city granted Durrant a waiver, the real issue is that Orem's zoning laws prohibit citizens from conducting commercial business operations in residential zones. That means local food purveyors like Durrant are technically selling their goods illegally, a fact that thwarts the local food movement and negatively impacts the Orem community.

People like Durrant should be treasured in the community, not penalized. Sign the petition urging Mayor Jerry Washburn to amend Orem's zoning laws to make it easier for local food purveyors like Darrell Durrant to sell their goods.
