Do you want expand access to affordable public tennis in Seattle? Do you want to see a bigger and better maintained Amy Yee Tennis Center? Then we need your help!
The Amy Yee Tennis Center is the only public facility in Seattle where anyone and everyone can play tennis during our wet winter months. Unfortunately, it needs significant improvements and expansion to handle the already overwhelming demand. We are requesting funding from the Department of Parks and Recreation to replace the leaking roof, add insulation and a new heating system, and expand the community gathering space at the existing 10-court facility. We are also seeking funding for the construction of a brand new 5-court facility next to Amy Yee.
With the improved facilities, Amy Yee could better meet the already overwhelming demand for court reservations, lessons, and USTA teams. We could also expand support for lesser-known programs that benefit a diverse tennis community:
- Quickstart group lessons for kids
- Junior scholarships
- Discounted rates for seniors
- Reduced court rates for the Seattle Tennis and Education Foundation and the Amy Yee Tennis Foundation -- non-profits that provide mentoring and tennis instruction to under resourced youth
- Hosting high school and Seattle University tennis teams
The City of Seattle is in the process of developing a new 6-year plan that budgets for improvements to our parks. Sign the petition today to help us show the Mayor, the City Council, and the Parks Department how many people support the renovation and expansion of Amy Yee Tennis Center.
