The residents of Newark, Ohio want to engage in the hiring process of a new Police Chief! 

We are asking for you support for the following steps to be taken by the City of Newark:

1. Introduce the final candidate for the new Police Chief to the residents of  Newark before a hiring decision is made. 

2. Allow residents of Newark to provide feedback on the final candidate before a hiring decision is made. 

We ask that the following subjects be included in questioning and vetting of the Police Chief candidate by both residents & the formal hiring committee:

1. Race relations 

2. Community policing

3. Homelessness

4. Drug addiction & mental health

We as residents of Newark want to work with our police department to protect and empower the black community & other marginalized voices. The first step in this work is to allow residents to provide feedback on the final candidate before a hiring decision is made.
