I am currently trying to follow my passion and start a Mobile Pet Photography Studio. I have redesigned and renovated an 18 passenger bus into a beautiful photo studio filled with backdrops and props as well as on site printing and framing services. While seeking approval for a Business License to pursue my calling I was made aware that under current Bylaw a business must be operated from a premises(not from a vehicle) the only exception is for Mobile Vendors which I apparently do not qualify as. In an email from the City of Langley they stated they "do not want buses or other commercial vehicles parking on or in front of residential properties and operation as studios which could create a nuisance and generate complaints". My bus takes up no more space than a medium size Uhaul Moving Van. As well other companies such as, locksmiths and junk removal services to name just a few, are able to place their commercial vehicles in front of residential properties while performing their services. My hope is with enough attention and support we can change the Bylaw that is keeping me from following my dream of running a wonderful business that can bring pet owners across British Columbia joy and preserve precious memories of their furry friends.
