Stop the killings of dogs in public shelter Suceava, Romania
The council of Suceava has made a decision , HCL nr 9/2014, to kill all the dogs in the public shelter of Suceava, Romania.This decision will now be implemented. Ten dogs every 48 hours in the public shelter of Suceava will be killed until no dog is left.
The Court of Appeal suspended completely the application norms 1059/2013 on June 20, 2014.
According to the law a court decision is legally binding with immediate effect. Therefore, the legality of killing stray dogs was suspended in Romania and starting 20'th of June 2014, any activity, including the capturing and transport of the stray dogs by private companies and the killing of the strays is without any legal support and does not comply to the Court decision.
Mayor Ion Lungu also refused several times the cooperation with Vier Pfoten Romania as they offered to spay and neuter dogs in Suceava.
