Chirag Patel started this petition to Mayor Owen Henry

At the end of November, the Old Bridge Public Library closed to the public again for the ability to browse the library in person via appointment. The library has allowed curbside pick-up and appointments for other services inside the library (passports, using the computers, etc) but not for browsing. The Old Bridge Public Schools have re-opened on a hybrid schedule, the Old Bridge Recreation Department has been able to hold in person indoor classes so what is stopping the library from re-opening?

The OB Public Library’s Re-Opening Committee had a virtual meeting on 2/17/21 which was posted on the Township’s Facebook page but it mentioned that no formal action would be taken and it would not be open to the public. Unfortunately, the details of this meeting do not seem to have been published online. While our township seems to be dragging its feet our neighboring town East Brunswick just opened up again to in person browsing last week. Also, the wonderful people that worked at the Old Bridge Library continue to be furloughed.

It is important to show your support to our library and the Librarians to the Library Board that the residents of Old Bridge want the library re-opened. The Library Board is due to have a meeting this Wednesday, March 10 via zoom. In addition to signing this petition, please show your support by attending this virtual meeting. The details of the virtual meeting are usually posted on the Township’s Facebook page one day prior to the meeting - https://www.facebook.com/OBTOWN

Feel free to reach out to the Library Board as well. It consists of the current mayor, a former Old Bridge mayor, our School Superintendent and other familiar names - http://www.oldbridgelibrary.org/library-info/library-board/
