I wrote this letter to Parkland neighborhood residents in July 2017...
Dear Parkland neighborhood residents:
I have received numerous calls and neighbors stopping me throughout the day for months regarding the club located at 1135 South 32nd Street. As you may recall, we addressed this issue a few years ago when the motorcycle club became a public nuisance. We sat down with the club owner and manager but that did not lead to change. It took community and law enforcement working together to reclaim our neighborhood.
Now, there is a new group in the club that parties everyday with the loudest noise, gun shots, people spilling out into the street, revving of motorcycle engines, and harassing neighbors who are trying to go to or return home from work happening between 1:00-6:00 a.m. We have neighbors who work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts and the club has become ridiculous with its disrespect of children, elders and working folks.
While this really is a local issue that you should address with your council member [and Mayor Fischer], I have contacted Major Bates of the 2nd Division to share you]r concerns, especially with school starting back next month. Officer Chuck Cooper, who is the 2nd Division Resource Officer, is going to investigate the written complaint that I submitted back in June. Officer Cooper plans to meet with whomever is running the club. In the meantime, Major Bates will direct patrol officers to increase their patrols in the area and to take any necessary enforcement action.
Please call the non-emergency line at (502) 574-7111 to report disturbances, including gun shots, coming from the club. You do not have to leave your contact information when you call. If you want LMPD to respond in a timely manner, you have to make those calls. You did it before, you can do it again.
