Removal of the dangerous median at Continental Ct, Monroe NJ

This is a request to act upon our numerous concerns to remove the median along Continental Ct at Rocky Brook estates, Monroe. A median is actually supposed to make it safer for driving, but instead we have a median thats becoming a nightmare to navigate. We called the Mayors office and sent mails to Monroe Engineering dept., but here we are again reiterating the issues we faced-

  1. In winters and tougher driving conditions, median is becoming a big hindrance as it starts mid-way in the community. There was a major accident hitting the median resulting in car getting totaled. Proofs will be provided.
  2. Due to school bus stopping at the entrance, community members who had to drop kids at the entrance are facing everyday nightmare. Reason being, the median doesn’t provide additional space for drivers to take any reflex/evasive action, if any kid makes his way to the road. This will result in either hitting the kid or hitting the median.
  3. Besides the car totaling incident, there were 3 other car accidents resulting in dents and scratches. Proofs will be provided.
  4. Due to narrow space on each side of the median, on occasions, ongoing construction is forcing us to use opposite lanes. We saw construction vehicles and state troops as well use opposite lanes.

All of these happened in a span of one year in a community which was only half sold during the incidents. One could imagine the situation going forward when all 41 houses are sold. There is no real reason to have a median when the traffic rules also treat yellow solid lines as the same as median. As a community, we all want this to be removed and replaced with solid yellow lines that will prove to be lot safer. Please help us by acting quickly.
