Alexis Thomason started this petition to Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler and

SAVE OUR BELOVED HIGHLAND PARK FARMER’S MARKET!!

We, the undersigned residents and workers of Highland Park, do hereby proclaim that it is our wish to see a continued public ownership of the property dubbed “Tract C”, as per our town’s Redevelopment Agency, and herein dubbed the “Farmer’s Market” for the sake of this petition.

We, the undersigned, believe that the Farmer’s Market has historically, and is currently, having a positive impact on our economically and culturally diverse town by 1) being the location of a produce market whereby the town has increased access to fresh produce and locally manufactured goods, 2) by creating a literal and figurative town square at which the communities within our community can come together at a central and accessible location and share ideas and information, and 3) by being a town cultural center at which we may engage with the arts, be part of a wellness program, eat outdoors safely, or just meet with friends.

We, the undersigned, are of the belief that the Farmer’s Market and adjacent areas are vital, should be improved upon, and should be held in perpetuity as a town public space. It is our wish to explore MORE beautification, MORE inclusion, and MORE sustainable design. It is NOT our wish to lose our public space.

Let Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler and the Town Council know ON OR BEFORE the redevelopment meeting on Tuesday Sept 14th that we want NO PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT ON TRACT C!!
