I believe that neighborhoods' need to be protected from ones who favor squatting while they use drugs, crimes reported include mail theft, home break-ins, and vehicle thefts that are believed to be a direct result of the transient occupants in the house. They're actually stealing power from the neighbors!

It has been a nightmare getting squatters out of houses on our block and now my wife has nightmares and doesn't feel safe in her own home

We currently have squatters in our neighborhood. They've brought drugs, garbage, transients and stolen vehicles and belongings to our community.

Our neighborhood currently is facing this same situation and we are helpless to fix it.

Steve we are experiencing a very similar situation in our neighborhood of Victory Heights. I'd love to chat with you sometime to discuss your experiences and approach to ridding the issue in your neighborhood and to see what else we can do to draw attention to the cause. I'm trying to organize a community meeting and asking that a local police representative and city council member attend - and possibly the media to publicly record their responses. It's a lot to ask but maybe we could talk you into attending? Thanks so much for bringing this into public view!

I want to own a home someday, and I want to have the reassurance that I can go on vacation without fear of someone taking over my home. The laws need to change everywhere.

I am a full time landlord in Washington and am very concerned about civic policy continuing to penalize the owners of Real Property and ignore the behavior of the parties in legal possession. This is a disturbing trend that deteriorates our communities and is designed to extract money from the party that has the least amount to do with this. I also serve on the Washington Landlord Association Board.

This is also an affordable housing issue. If deadbeats and criminals can force a law abiding landlord to incur tens of thousands of dollars in costs to get rid of them, think what that cost does to everyone else's rent.
