Create more affordable housing in San Francisco

Low and middle income residents are being pushed out of our communities. This impacts our most venerable citizens including, the elderly, children, and the working poor. San Francisco is facing a dire shortage of affordable housing. To address this crisis, we propose that all multi unit construction projects designate 10% of apartments as "affordable units". These units will be rented to low income residents at a rate 40% below other units in the building, and will be subject to rent control. This requirement would be applied to both new construction and major renovations.
