Time and time again the Broken Arrow City Council has refused a mask mandate. Specifically the Mayor, Craig Thurmond, Council members Debra Wimpee, Christie Gillespie and Ed Eudey have voted against the safety and health of all Broken Arrow citizens. In November the vote was 4 to 1 against even recommending everyone wear masks. Members cite anything from "masks don't work" or "you can find anything on Google you want to believe." Really? Facts matter. Zip code 74012 has consistantly ranked #2 in covid19 cases in the entire state of Oklahoma with other Broken Arrow zip codes in the top 20 in the state; 74011, 74013, 74014. We demand a mandate so that ALL Broken Arrow citizens can shop safely and go to church safely. Most citizens over 65 are shuttered in their homes because it's simply not safe to go out in their own city. State deaths are over 2,500 with the majority over 65 yrs old. Broken Arrow is nearing 90 deaths or more. Tulsa hospitals are overwhelmed with Broken Arrow citizens getting sick.
