Keep Berkeley Shelter Open All Year!

Sign this petition to keep the 9th Street Shelter @ University in Berkeley open and turn it into a year round drop-in center with showers, bathrooms, storage, laundry facilities, breakfast and dinner as well as space for 90+ overnight guests.
On August 30th, the City of Berkeley plans to close down the shelter at 9th Street and University. This will put 100 people back on the streets (and there are hundreds more waiting to get in). The justification for closing it down is the opening of the new Pathways project. Pathways will only house 45 people for a maximum of 6 months.
According to data collected, as a result of the shelter, over 600 unique residents (60% of those on the streets in Berkeley) were able to spend one or more nights indoor, eat a hot meal, have access to sinks and portable toilets and some community.
Let Dorothy Day House continue their good work!
We ask the Mayor and City Manager of the City of Berkeley, and all of Berkeley City Council, to do the right thing.
