This petition is to state that Mayor Carlos Gimenez, along with all County/City elected officials that continue to shut businesses, SHOULD NOT RECEIVE PAYCHECKS until the Local State of Emergency is fully lifted and businesses can once again operate as normal. Not a "new normal" that continues to destroy business, but back to fully normal. 

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez declared a local state of emergency on March 12th, 2020 effectively shutting down small businesses throughout Miami-Dade County. This closure of small business has led to an unprecedented increase in unemployment throughout the County. 

Countless residents of Miami-Dade County have gone without a paycheck for over six weeks and are struggling to meet their basic needs. Rent is due. Food is needed. The County Mayor has stopped us from providing for our families. All elected officials should be in the same position as The People of Miami-Dade County.
