Stop neglecting Wellswood park Mayor Buckhorn, it's unfair to our children!!!!

I live in the neighborhood called Wellswood. There is a park next to the elementary school Mendenhall that is named for the neighborhood, Wellswood park 4918 N Mendenhall Dr, Tampa, FL 33603. 85 students from Mendenhall attend the park's after school program and ALL of the children from this neighborhood utilize this park. There is NO handicap parking, no lights throughout the park to light it at night and keep vandals away, the after school children have to use ridiculous portables that have no awnings to block rain, and the pathway to the portables floods in the rain making it nearly impossible to pick up the children, the city purchased the church next to the park but will NOT invest in it to turn it into a civic center. The church has mold and asbestos and hoodlums break into it and do drugs inside of it, RIGHT NEXT TO THE PARK CHILDREN USE. Their bathrooms are locked on the weekends and are ridiculously small and not handicap accessible, as well as there is not adequate parking for both the Wellswood park and Wellswood Baseball lots. The church is an eye sore and could be such an asset to the neighborhood. We have children in Waterman's Crossing apartments that NEED a park because half of those children live in poverty, we have children from low income families throughout the neighborhood that could benefit from having a park to keep them occupied and out of trouble. More houses are being built in the neighborhood, having a decent park could bring in more money to this community. We NEED the church renovated ASAP, we need the park renovated ASAP. I have lived in this neighborhood my entire life and it is unfair that the river walk has been invested in and will not have any use by children, but a park that will be heavily used such as Wellswood is CONSTANTLY NEGLECTED. The community is tired of it and is ready to see the city put some money into our park which will benefit our children NOW. I understand the mayor's legacy is South Tampa, River Walk and Curtis Hixson.... but OUR legacy is Wellswood. We are willing to help but we need the city to also step in and take responsibility for their neglect.
