In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the devastation it caused to the City of New York and all it's surrounding areas, the NYC Marathon is not needed to show NYC is resilient. Instead all of the runners in this marathon should donate their time to lending a helping hand to those in need. People are in dire straits and need support from friends, families and even strangers, they do not need marathon runners parading through devastated towns as if nothing has happened. Instead of wrapping a warm blanket or jacket around a runner at the end of the race, or handing them a water, or powering a generator so the race could be broadcast live, why don't you hand out water to those who don't have any, clothe a cold child who just lost their homes, toys and everything else they own. To all of you who have a heart and feel the same way please sign this and see if we can stop or at least postpone the NYC Marathon and join together to make a difference and help rebuild all that has been lost to so many.
