Petitioning Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Cuomo

Install solar powered solutions in NYC areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy

One of the only silver linings in the wake of the storm is that both Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Cuomo are now on board to have a serious and action-oriented discussion about climate change.  In the meantime, I believe there is a HUGE opportunity for solar companies to step forward with solutions to help those who need it most in the areas that are still without power.  Providing solar powered lights, stoves, heat sources, cell phone chargers, etc. will vastly improve the conditions- physically, mentally and emotionally- for people in the affected areas. In addition, this is an excellent chance to demonstrate just how effective solar energy is- even and especially in emergency situations.  They can be the pioneer neighborhoods and the models for future green retrofitting.

I am asking Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Cuomo to please allocate funds (donate/buy/subsidize) and work with solar companies to participate in "the great solar experiment" by implementing a massive and immediate installation of the solar grid into these areas.  It will be a major improvement in quality of life and will help to restore a sense of safety and security to the storm victims RIGHT NOW... not to mention glowing PR for the companies who help, for the mayor and the governor, and for solar power/clean energy in general.  It's a win-win-win-win!

PLEASE help me reach a wider audience by sharing this petition with your facebook/email/twitter contacts- thank you!

Install solar powered solutions in NYC areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy

One of the only silver linings in the wake of the storm is that both Mayor Bloomberg and Governor Cuomo are now on board to have a serious and action-oriented discussion about climate change. I believe there is a HUGE opportunity for solar companies to step forward with solutions to help those who need it most in the areas that are still without power. Providing solar powered lights, stoves, heat sources, cell phone chargers, etc. will vastly improve the conditions- physically, mentally and emotionally- for people in the affected areas. In addition, this is an excellent chance to prove to the nay sayers that we CAN power homes and neighborhoods with solar energy alone- even and especially in emergency situations. I am asking the NYC government to work with solar companies to participate in "the great solar experiment" by donating/subsidizing/installing whatever they can to help the hurricane victims. It will be a major improvement in quality of life and sense of safety and security, not to mention glowing PR for the companies who help, solar power in general and for the mayor and the governor.
