Arthur Von Briesen Park is located on Bay St of Staten Island, New York, right outside the entrance of Fort Wadsworth. Ever since it became a public park in 1949, it has never had any form of lighting at night besides what you get from the nearby homes and cars driving by, as well as the iconic Verrazano Bridge that stands tall in the distance.

It's one of, if not the only park in the city that doesn't have any lighting inside, and because of this Von Briesen becomes pitch black once the sun goes down. I and many other local park goers for years have always complained that the city has not put up lights yet. Its unfair to everyone that wishes to stay longer and enjoy being at the beautiful park even after sunset.

With lighting, the parks also becomes a much safer place to be. I have had friends tell me they were concerned for their safety after dark because you can't see without using a flashlight. This shouldn't be necessary in a city park.

I don't believe the people of Shore Acres, Rosebank, and the rest of Staten Island are asking for to much in this request. This would only make the local residents happier and add to the esthetic of the park and overall neighborhood.
