Pablo Leon started this petition to Mayor of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and

During this pandemic, much has been made about people staying at home.  While Mayor DiBlasio has suspended alternate side of the street parking, but meter rules are still in effect.  With the majority of the workforce staying at home, cars are not being moved. Clearly, there are not enough parking spots to accommodate the number of cars on the streets. Meanwhile, the commercial/residential areas that have an excess of parking meters are not being utilized as intended because most stores are closed.  That results in a lot of empty spaces.

The people in the neighborhoods have two choices.   Either they drive around for hours, hoping some one moves their car or feed the meters.   This means that you have to leave your home anywhere from 10 times a day (1 hour parking), 2.5 times a day (4 hour parking to 5 times a day (2 hour parking).  That means that Mayor DiBlasio is putting lives in jeopardy every time someone exposes themselves by having to go feed the meter.  This is counter to everything the Mayor has spoken about.

Mayor DiBlasio has stated that the general health of the citizens outweigh financial concerns.  As such, action should be taken immediately.
