Gowanus Neighborhood Coalition for Justice (GNCJ) update
May 27, 2021 —
On Thursday, June 3rd 2021 the public review process of the Gowanus Neighborhood Rezoning officially begins with a joint in-person and online hearing chaired by Community Boards 6 and 2 in partnership with the Department of City Planning (DCP).
Taking place in-person at Washington Park (3rd Street between 4th & 5th Avenues in Park Slope) and remotely via Zoom, the hearing is the public’s initial opportunity to testify on the proposed Gowanus rezoning.
We invite you to stand with us IN-PERSON or ONLINE on June 3rd to continue to push for City commitments to our top demands as part of the proposed Gowanus Rezoning:
- FULLY FUND THE CAPITAL NEEDS FOR LOCAL NYCHA HOUSING
- GENERATE NO NEW COMBINED SEWAGE OVERFLOW (CSO)
- ENSURE ACCOUNTABILITY BY CREATING A COMMUNITY-BASED TASK FORCE
Our Coalition will NOT support the rezoning unless these top 3 demands are met. Visit our website at www.GNCJ.org to learn more about GNCJ’s additional demands and priorities.
Registration is required if you wish to testify or attend the hearing in-person or through Zoom on Thursday, June 3 (starting at 3:30pm and ending at 10pm at the in-person location and 11pm online. Rain date scheduled for Thursday, June 10.) Click here for instructions on how to register.
If you wish to be more involved and take direct action to stand with us on June 3rd and beyond please email email@example.com.
