Before the pandemic I was trying to limit my 5 year olds screen time, and then I was forcing her to sit by a laptop where she was discouraged because she couldnt understand the work. It hurt her and that hurt me. Watching my innocent girl look sadly at her friends through a computer screen when she wanted the chance at recess with them. Not getting the one on one explanations from the teacher when she didnt understand what was happening. 
She is now back in school 5 days in first grade and lacking the reading skills she wouldve been taught in kindergarten. But she has excellent teachers and I know she will pick it up quick! 
When will junior high and high school kids get that chance? These kids need the routine, the knowledge. This pandemic caused so many set backs for everyone, but especially our kids. They arent learning, they arent having a social life away from home or their phone screen. Its causing so many mental health problems!!! They arent getting the life experiences we were so lucky to have in school. They miss life as it used to be- and although i think we will be wearing masks for a long time and I dont know if things will ever be "normal" again, but give the kids and our young adults the chance to learn, the chance to live and be happy again!
